The Plastics Industry Association’s Committee on Equipment Statistics (CES) reported a 27.6 percent drop in North American shipments of primary plastics machinery in the first quarter of this year compared to the fourth quarter of last year. Total value for the shipments was $273 million, according to a preliminary estimate.
This broke down to a 26.3 percent drop for injection molding machines; a 24.8 percent decline for single-screw extruders and 46.2 percent fall for twin-screw extruders.
