Fakuma 2020 has been postponed until 2021 by the event's organizer. The next Fakuma will be held Oct. 12-16, 2021, in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

In a press release, Bettina Schall, managing director of organizer P.E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG, said "Together with all involved parties, we struggled for a long time to amend the general conditions demanded by the corona pandemic in such a way that Fakuma 2020 could have been promoted successfully. We fulfilled all of the prerequisites. However, in cooperation with the exhibitor advisory board we’ve now decided to postpone Fakuma 2020 to October, 2021.”

Schall said rational thinking and a sense of responsibility, as well as concerns among exhibitors and visitors over the potential risks posed by COVID-19 led to the decision. The announcement comes after a series of exhibitors pulled out. Engel, Wittmann Group, KraussMaffei, Sepro, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, Piovan, Nordson, Motan-Colortronic and Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik all announced in recent weeks they would not attend this year's trade show.

“Exhibitors and expert visitors alike should look ahead to building on the success of previous Fakuma trade fairs. This is why we’re now all working together on thorough, detailed planning for the upcoming year,” Schall said. The 2020 Fakuma event originally was scheduled for Oct. 13-17 in Friedrichshafen.
