Plastics industry reporter Bill Bregar passes away at 58

Long-time plastics industry reporter Bill Bregar died unexpectedly April 5 at his home in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was 58. 

Bregar, a colorful and well-liked journalist, had deep knowledge of plastics machinery and plastics processing as a result of 31 years of covering it for Plastics News. He suffered an apparent heart attack. 

He was also well-known for his profiles of members of the Plastics Hall of Fame. 

Bregar graduated from Ohio University in 1983 and spent five years as a reporter on a daily newspaper. He next worked for Restaurant Management magazine and joined Plastics News when it launched in 1989 and became a senior reporter in 1996. He won numerous writing and reporting awards over the years. 

Bregar’s wife Nancy passed away in 2019. He is survived by two adult children, Sam and Molly. No arrangements have been announced.
