Updated list of plastics industry events affected by coronavirus pandemic

Plastics Machinery Magazine is maintaining the following list of events that have been postponed, canceled or otherwise altered as the industry reacts to the spread of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19: 

Announced postponements/cancellations/rescheduled events: 

  • The 2021 Plastics Recycling Conference and Trade Show as been rescheduled for May 3-5, 2021. It was originally scheduled to be held Feb. 22-24 just outside of Washington, D.C. For more information, visit the website.
  • Originally scheduled for February of next year, the events for MD&M West, PLASTEC West, WestPack, Pacific Design & Manufacturing (D&M) and Automation Technology West (ATX) have been pushed back to Aug.10-12, 2021 in Anaheim, Calif.   • Messe Düsseldorf has rescheduled three overseas plastics and rubber trade fairs: Plastics & Rubber Vietnam, ArabPlast and PLASTINDIA. Plastics & Rubber Vietnam had been scheduled for November of this year, and now will be held in Ho Chi Minh City June 16-18, 2021. Check the website here.   • The Plastics Recycling Show Europe, originally scheduled for Oct. 27 and 28 in Amsterdam, has been postponed until 2021, organizers say. Read the announcement here.
  • ATX Minneapolis has been rescheduled for Nov. 3-4, 2021. See details here.
  • AMI announced it has rescheduled all four of its plastics industry exhibitions: Compounding World, Plastics Recycling World, Polymer Testing World and Plastics Extrusion World will all be held in Cleveland Nov. 3-4, 2021. See details here.
  • The Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society has turned its 2020 International Elastomer Conference, originally scheduled for Oct. 20-22 in Knoxville, Tenn., into a virtual event. Plans will be posted at  www.rubberiec.org.
  • Fakuma 2020 has been postponed until 2021, according to a statement from the event's organizer, P.E. Schall Gmbh  & Co. KG. The next Fakuma will be held Oct. 12-16, 2021, in Friedrichshafen, Germany.  Read the announcement.
  • MD&M East has once again been rescheduled, this time to June 8-10, 2021, and will be held in New York City. Organizers also announced plans for a Virtual Engineering Week, to be held sometime this winter. More information about the 2021 event and emerging details for the virtual event will be updated here.
  • ABC 2020, the Annual Blow Molding Conference of the Society of Plastics Engineers' Blow Molding Division, has been canceled. It had been scheduled for Oct. 5-7 in Chicago. Read the announcement here.
  • Plastimagen, the largest plastics show in Mexico, announced it will postpone its event, originally scheduled for November, and will now hold it Jan. 11-13, 2021, in Mexico City. Read more information here.
  • The LSR 2020 Conference, originally scheduled for Sept. 14-17, has been canceled. Executive Conference Management announced plans for LSR 2021, to be held Sept. 13-15, 2021, in Schaumburg, Ill. Read more here.
  • The International Manufacturing Technology Show, which had been scheduled for Sept. 14-19, has been canceled. The AMT Board of Directors announced plans for the IMTS Network, which will offer live-streaming features and stories about manufacturing technology, and IMTS Spark, a digital platform to connect IMTS exhibitors and visitors. Both programs are still being developed; check the IMTS website for updates.
  • Graham Engineering Corp. announced cancellation of the American Kuhne Spotlight medical extrusion and secondary operations conference. It had been scheduled for Sept. 1-2 in Galway, Ireland. The company said plans for the conference are suspended until further notice.
  • The International Plastic Fair, originally scheduled for Oct. 6-10 in Tokyo, has been canceled. Read the statement
  • Wittmann Battenfeld has canceled its Open House and Technical Symposium, which it typically hosts every two years at its U.S. headquarters. The event had been scheduled for Sept. 24-25, and has not yet been rescheduled. 
  • JEC World will not take place this May as scheduled. Instead, it will next run March 9-11 next year in Paris.
  • The 2020 BIR World Recycling Convention & Exhibition, originally scheduled for May in Istanbul, has been rescheduled to Oct. 12-14. See www.bir.org/istanbul2020/convention-postponed for more information.
  • Messe Düsseldorf in Germany, which sponsors Interpack, has announced the international packaging event will next take place in May of 2023, after it was canceled this spring.
  • PVC2020, originally scheduled for April 20-23 in Scotland, has been canceled. The trade show will next take place May 9-12 next year.
  • Amerimold 2020, which had been scheduled for June 10-11, has been canceled. Visit the Amerimold 2020 website.
  • 2020 Re|focus Sustainability & Recycling Summit, which had been scheduled for May 18-20, has been canceled, The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) announced. Some of the planned events will be offered as virtual events. See PLASTICS' statement and future events.
  • Chinaplas 2020, originally scheduled for April 21-24, has been rescheduled for Aug. 3-6. It will be held in the originally planned venue, Shanghai's National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC). Read the postponement statement here.
  • Update: Moldex3D's Users' Meeting – North America: Beyond Simulation, which had been rescheduled for Sept. 2-3, has now been canceled. 
  • Update: The annual conference of the American Mold Builders Association, which had been set for April 29-May 1, has been canceled. Organizers announced that they will offer a free e-event on April 30. AMBA will fully refund the registration fees of anyone who plans to visit a travel-restricted region during the three weeks prior to the conference. AMBA's statement.    
  • Graham Engineering Corp. has changed the date of its American Kuhne Spotlight medical extrusion and secondary operations conference to Sept. 1-2, 2020. The event will now take place at Clayton Hotel in Galway, Ireland. Conference details.
  • Sumitomo (SHI) Demag announced that the grand opening of its Chicago Tech Center, originally scheduled for April 22-23, has been postponed. The company's announcement said the opening will be rescheduled when appropriate. Read the company's statement here.
  • SME announced the Rapid + TCT event has been postponed and will take place April 26-29, 2021, at McCormick Place in Chicago. SME's press release.  

  • Plastics Recycling Show Europe has announced that its event scheduled to take place on March 25-26 has been rescheduled to Oct. 27-28 at the RAI Amsterdam. 

  • Gardner Business Media announced that the Molding 2020 Conference has been rescheduled to take place with the Extrusion 2020 event, Oct. 13-15 in Rosemont, Ill. Molding Conference information page. 

  • Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announced the decision to postpone its HxGN LIVE Smart Manufacturing Detroit 2020 event, originally scheduled for May 19-20. More information and rescheduled dates will be communicated later. HxGN LIVE Smart Manufacturing Detroit 2020 statement. 

  • The organizers of JEC World 2020 announced they have postponed their international composites show, and it will now be May 12-14 in Paris-Nord Villepinte, France. JEC World statement.
