Plastics Extrusion Machinery LLC (PEM) announced it will close its facility in Tumwater, Wash., on April 30.

The company said it was unable to renew the lease for the facility, and so all the machinery will eventually be moved to its new headquarters facility in McPherson, Kan., which is still under construction and expected to be completed this fall. In the interim, much of the equipment will be stored.

Some of PEM’s Washington employees who expressed interest in moving were offered the option of relocating to Kansas, while others will work remotely; new hires will fill out the remaining gaps. The company said it is working with customers to minimize the impact of any production interruptions.

Headquartered in McPherson, PEM manufactures downstream extrusion equipment for the PVC pipe and custom profile industries.
