Nissei ASB settles patent suit in U.S.

Nissei ASB Machine Co. Ltd., Nagano, Japan, announced it has reached a settlement to end its patent infringement lawsuit against R&D Tool & Engineering Co. Ltd. of Lee’s Summit, Mo.

In its suit, filed in 2018, Nissei ASB alleged that an R&D mold infringed on several of Nissei ASB’s patents.

While terms of the settlement are confidential, Nissei ASB said R&D will pay an undisclosed amount of money for past sales, and that Nissei ASB has granted R&D a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-bearing license to sell the molds.

Nissei ASB said it will continue to take appropriate measures to protect its patents globally.
