New machine melds blow molding, labeling

Nov. 30, 2020
Sidel's new Combi BD can produce up to 48,000 bottles per hour, and label them, while using less floor space than separate units.

Combi BD Sidel’s new blow molding system combines bottle production and labeling in a single machine. It can produce bottles at a rate of up to 48,000 per hour and can apply roll-fed or pressure-sensitive labels to them. It can produce bottles from 0.1 liter to 3.5 liters in size.

What’s new? The Combi BD, which combines the capabilities of Sidel’s EvoBlow and EvoDeco technologies in a single system.

Benefits A small footprint and efficiency. The system takes up less floor space than a blow molding machine and stand-alone labeling unit, while reducing energy consumption by as much as 45 percent. It also decreases preform heating time by up to 15 percent. A single HMI controls all bottle blowing and decorating functions, and only one operator is needed. The Combi BD’s neck- handling grippers decrease stress on preforms and prevent scratches.
