SGI.5 Makino has released the latest version of its Super Geometric Intelligence software, which is available with select new machining centers equipped with the Professional 6 controller. Developed for mold makers, the software facilitates high-feed rate, tight-tolerance machining of complex 3-D contoured shapes. (Parts made with machining centers using the software are pictured.)
What's new? The software, which is now available on all machines capable of running it. Applicable series include several popular among mold makers: Makino's V-series and iQ-series vertical machining centers, as well as the D-series five-axis vertical machining centers.
Benefits Increased productivity, maintenance of even tighter tolerances, reduced cycle times and increased profitability. Depending on the shapes involved, SGI.5 can provide 20 to 60 percent faster cycle times, while maintaining accuracy and surface finishes.
