a120nx The biggest machining center in Makino's nx series, the a120nx is suited for manufacturing large molds. Its four-cone pallet location-and-clamping system delivers 46,500 pounds of force, and the horizontal machining center can store as many as 204 tools of wide-ranging sizes and designs, with dimensions of up to 35.4 inches long and 14 inches wide and weights of up to 77 pounds. To accommodate large parts, the system comes standard with an 8,000-rpm spindle and boasts traverse rates of 2,126 inches per minute. Optional accessories of special interest to mold makers include Makino's Super Geometric Intelligence Version 5 control software and an 18,000-rpm spindle, designed for fine finishes.
