What's new? Two new versions — hyperMill 2016.1, released in January, and hyperMill 2016.2, which came out last month. The latter expands upon a new tangent plane machining function introduced in the 2016.1 version. With it, using a new conical barrel cutter, mold makers can more easily perform rest-of-stock machining — the machining of fine details after the initial, big cuts are made. The versions also address strategies for machining large surfaces.

Benefits Greater efficiency, and production of quality workpieces. Using the new tangent plane machining function, mold makers can achieve superior surface finishes in as little as 10 percent of the time that would be required by traditional ball endmill approaches. The angular offset with conical barrel cutter allows shorter cutters to access hard-to-reach areas. In addition, compared to longer cutters, the shorter ones reduce deflection.
