Injection stretch blow molding line gains 2 more units

Sipa has added two single-stage PET injection stretch blow molding machines to its ECS line, the 50-ton ECS SP 50 (shown) and the 80-ton ECS SP 80.

ECS SP Sipa has added two single-stage PET injection stretch blow molding machines to its ECS line, the 50-ton ECS SP 50 (shown) and the 80-ton ECS SP 80. Ideal for making bottles with volumes of as little as 20 milliliters, the machines can handle molds with as many as 16 cavities, for outputs of up to 6,000 bottles per hour. They also can mold bottles as large as 6 liters using two-cavity molds.

What's new? The size of the machines. The blow molders, which are targeted at processors that need to change molds frequently, are designed to produce smaller lots than Sipa's existing ECS HS and FX single-stage units.

Benefits Energy efficiency, compact layout and high speeds. The machines use hydraulics when large forces are required and servo-electric drives for fast movements, a combination that Sipa says results in greater energy efficiency and a smaller carbon footprint than competing equipment. The ECS SP 80 can use as few as 20 kilowatts per hour. Also, both machines accept molds designed to run on equipment from major competitors and have features that enable quick product changeovers.
