Nordson die-deckle combo fights edge bead

Oct. 29, 2014

Extrusion coating die technology for low melt strength plastics  This enhanced coating technology package from Nordson Extrusion Dies Industries is specifically designed to reduce edge bead while processing low melt strength linear polymers like LLDPE and polypropylene as well as specialty copolymers such as ethylene vinyl acetate and ethylene methyl acrylate.

What's new?  A much shorter lip land on the extrusion die combined with custom-made secondary, but exchangeable, internal deckle blades with longer radii, and a "micro" deckle rod that's half the diameter of a standard deckle rod, for a technology package engineered to minimize edge bead when coating a web substrate with low melt strength plastic.

Benefits  Better coating control with uniform die coat weight to avoid trimming of beaded edges and to minimize material waste.
