Printer uses 2 extruder heads

Feb. 4, 2019
Edge BigRep’s newest industrial 3-D printer uses two extruder heads to turn high-end thermoplastics into large end-use parts, functional prototypes and composite tooling.

What’s new? The printer, which is making its debut during the first quarter of this year. It features a state-of-the-art motion-control CNC system from Bosch Rexroth USA, Charlotte, N.C., as well as BigRep’s new Metering Extruder Technology, also known as MXT, which provides a dynamic response as the extruder head starts, stops and rounds corners.

Benefits Fast and precise large-scale prints, and ease of use. Compared with fused-filament-fabrication printers, BigRep’s MXT makes possible much faster extrusion rates. Also, with its Bosch Rexroth components, the printer is Industry 4.0-capable. In addition, it is equipped with an advanced pull-out print bed and fully automated doors that open upwards, giving users access to the print bed from all sides.
