Econ adds lock system to underwater pelletizer

April 1, 2018

EUP 50 Econ's underwater pelletizer can handle throughputs of about 300 pounds per hour and features automatic band filtration. At NPE2018, it will be set up with a ZE 42 BluePower extruder from Krauss-Maffei Corp., Florence, Ky.; a loss-in-weight feeder from Brabender Technologie Inc., Mississauga, Ontario; and a Melt-X 1 pump from Eprotec, Regensdorf, Switzerland. Equipped with a special long-life micro die plate unit, it will process micropellets with diameters of 0.6mm to 0.7mm.

What's new? The addition as standard of a hydraulic lock system for the cutting chamber, formerly available only with larger machines.

Benefits Safer operation. With the hydraulic lock system, an operator cannot open the cutting chamber while the blades are moving. This prevents people from coming into contact with moving blades, as well as any hot water that might be sprayed from the chamber while the machine is operating. The automatic locking system fixes the cutting chamber to the die plate for easy and quick startup.
