918 IR This hybrid welding machine from Cemas uses infrared energy to preheat weld areas and vibration welding to join large plastic components. The 918 IR has a large work surface, with a lift table measuring 5.6 feet by 2.1 feet and a weight capacity of about 300 pounds. The machine can be configured to weld with up to eight profiles, or steps, within the cycle and can store up to 61 different tool setups. It can be equipped with up to 16 infrared modules and is customizable with more than 60 optional features.
What's new? The machine, and its availability from Extol, Cemas' first distributor for the U.S. and Canada.
Benefits Clean, quiet operation with easy maintenance and a user-friendly operator interface. The 918 IR features an ergonomic loading station and a wide rear opening for easy tool changes and maintenance. Compared with traditional vibration welding, the welder offers improved flash control, which is important when the weld joint is visible, for example in a tail lamp assembly, or when loose particulate flash could cause problems in air-induction systems or life-sciences filtration assemblies. Additionally, the machine creates stronger welds for certain types of plastics, such as high-temperature resins with high glass-fiber content.
