Thermoforming and automation equipment manufacturer Brown Machinery Group has acquired the Fremont, Ohio-based Freeman Co., which makes tooling for high-volume food service and packaging processors. The company and the 62 people it employs will remain at the Ohio facility.
Beaverton, Mich.-based Brown Machinery already had a tooling business, but the addition of Freeman provides a needed boost to production capacity. "The addition of Freeman provides a more complete tooling solution," said Bryan Redman, Brown's CEO.
Freeman CEO Larry Mears will retire after the purchase is complete, and the company's former COO, Mike Mullholand, will assume responsibility for the Fremont operation.
