PD30CN Carlo Gavazzi's new series of photoelectric sensors use a narrow red beam of light, called a PointSpot beam, to facilitate the detection of objects too small to be captured by standard sensors but too large to be detected by a laser. A background-suppression version is available, in addition to a polarized retro-reflective version. The sensors measure 10.8mm by 20mm by 30mm and sensors are useful for packaging, palletizing and materials-handling applications. In plastics plants, the sensors can be used to determine whether molds are open or closed, to spot parts as they're ejected, or to detect raw materials or finished products.
What's new? The PointSpot beam technology, which has been available for a couple of months.
Benefits Reliable detection of objects. The new technology prevents false triggers that can be caused by light reflecting off small objects.
