ITW's device keeps electrical enclosures cool

ITW's new line is used to cool the enclosures that hold industrial electrical, electronic and control systems, such as controllers for thermoforming machines.

ProtEX Vortex A/C ITW's new line is used to cool the enclosures that hold industrial electrical, electronic and control systems, such as controllers for thermoforming machines. The enclosure coolers use an integral, mechanical thermostat to maintain temperatures between 75 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit and are designed so that no ambient, dirty or humid air enters the cabinet. The coolers come in four models, providing cooling capacities of 900, 1,500, 2,500 and 5,000 Btu per hour.

What's new? The enclosure cooler and its ATEX certification for use in hazardous locations, specifically ATEX Zones 1 and 21, which are explosive atmospheres that can occur occasionally during normal operation. It is also certified to meet the ISO 80079-36:2016 standard for explosive atmospheres.

Benefits Money savings, reduced energy use and safe operation in hazardous environments. ProtEX Vortex A/C units can be used instead of the large, heavy and expensive air conditioners that are designed for hazardous locations. They require no wiring, are easily and quickly installed and can be mounted on the top or side of an enclosure. Requiring little maintenance, the units are quiet, operating at 62 A-weighted decibels.
