Ultrasonic Safety Available through Mayser, this detection system provides safety for humans working alongside collaborative robots. It uses two ultrasonic sensors that can be placed directly on the robot or end-of-arm tooling. By taking measurements within overlapping protection fields, the sensors can detect even the smallest movements. If no obstructions are detected, the robot can work quickly; robot movements slow down once a human enters a protection field. Though initially designed as an option for Kuka's LBR iiwa robots, the system is compatible with robots from other OEMs.

What's new? The sensor system, which has been available since February.

Benefits Prevention of potentially harmful robot-human interactions. With the sensors, both humans and robots can work more quickly and effectively.
