Beckhoff measurement modules gain metal housing

Beckhoff's EtherCAT measurement technology modules combine measurement devices and automation into a single universal system.

ELM series Beckhoff's new series of EtherCAT measurement technology modules optimizes the usage of raw materials and energy in a plant by combining measurement devices and automation technology into a single universal system. It consists of 11 modules, each with different interfaces and input circuitry. In a plastics plant, the modules can be used to make continuous readings for current, voltage, energy consumption and more. They can be retrofitted to older machinery, even if it is equipped with legacy fieldbus technology.

What's new? The modules have new metal housings that allow for better shielding and cooling and a flexible connector that makes it easy to integrate into typical plastics processing plants.

Benefits High-quality measurement data, reduced downtime and lower costs. Modules in the series have a measurement accuracy of 99.99 percent at 73.4 degrees Fahrenheit, high-precision timing (less than 1 microsecond), 24-bit resolution and a sampling rate of up to 50,000 samples per second. Such detailed monitoring of machinery helps to ensure that the equipment is running as efficiently as possible and minimizes downtime for repairs.
