EMR and XMR screen changers These new manual screen changers from Nordson Corp. provide a fast, easy and cost-effective alternative to stationary screen-changer systems. The units are equipped with a ratchet mechanism that significantly reduces the amount of force a user needs to exert when switching screens on an extrusion line. The EMR model, shown in the photo, is designed for use with extruders sized in inches; the XMR is for metric machines.

What's new? The screen changers, which are upgraded versions of the company's EM and XM models.

Benefits Ease of use and reductions in downtime. The ratchet mechanism reduces the amount of force needed to turn the handle when changing screens by 50 percent compared with the standard EM and XM models (both of which can be retrofitted with the force-reducing device). In addition, screens can be changed with a simple swing of a handle during routine shutdowns, without the need for line disconnection.
