Ribbon blenders provide better scrapers, precision

Feb. 27, 2017
New ribbon blenders handle dry powders, granules, pellets and other solids, as well as paste-like materials and solid-liquid suspensions.

Ribbon blenders Charles Ross & Son's ribbon blenders are used to rapidly blend dry powders, granules, pellets and other solids, as well as paste-like materials and solid-liquid suspensions. The machines use a horizontal agitator consisting of inner and outer helical ribbons within a U-shaped trough to blend the materials. The blenders are available in a wide variety of models with working capacities ranging from 0.5 cubic foot of material to 1,000 cubic feet.

What's new? Numerous optional features, including redesigned and reinforced scrapers, and a clear polycarbonate cover and shaft guards. The cover now also can include multiple ports for adding ingredients. The air-purged, mechanical shaft seals have replaceable, FDA-approved Teflon seal faces. Discharge connections can be customized to match the user's material-handling system. Shown is a model 42N-120SS, which has all of the newly available features.

Benefits Increased precision and efficiency. Also, operators can safely view the batch and add ingredients while the machine is operating,
