Engel has expanded its line of plasticizing screws for injection molding machines with the UAS G18, used to make automotive parts.

Universal Automotive Screw (UAS) G18 Engel has expanded its line of plasticizing screws for injection molding machines with the UAS G18, which is designed for use with a wide range of resins used to make automotive parts. The new screw also is suitable for technical injection molding. It can accommodate standard plastics such as HDPE and PP, as well as glass-fiber-reinforced PP, polyamide and shear-sensitive blends such as PC-ABS and PC-PET. It comes in standard diameters of 80mm to 120mm; larger diameters are available on request.

What's new? The optimized screw geometry, nonreturn valve and materials. Engel is using a new laser method for welding metal carbides onto the screw flights. The company introduced the screw at the K show.

Benefits Versatility, abrasion resistance and excellent plasticizing performance due to a large surface area. The screw also offers gentle homogenization of stress-sensitive materials because of its innovative mixing head.
