Camera, control system enhance Yaskawa robots
MotoSight 3D CanonVision Robots equipped with this high-performance Canon vision system can pick parts that have been randomly placed in bins, using projected light patterns to determine their movements. The system, which can be added to any Yaskawa robot supported by the DX200 controller, is currently in testing at plastics manufacturing facilities. At the test facilities, robots are being used to pick plastic handles from bins and attach them to other parts.
What's new? The combined camera-lighting source system, which was introduced in late summer.
Benefits Reduced cycle times. With its integrated camera, the robot can locate and pick parts in a single step, unlike other systems that first must locate the part, then orient it before picking it up.
