Intravis has upgraded its system for inspecting preforms both off-line in the laboratory and in-line.

Sample-PreWatcher Intravis has upgraded its system for inspecting preforms both off-line in the laboratory and in-line. Sample-PreWatcher uses a variety of measuring technologies to thoroughly inspect preforms for color, contamination, material defects and geometric characteristics. The unit is also able to identify the presence and correctness of cavity numbers, allowing for the creation of cavity-related data reports, and the ability to sort preforms according to cavity number. Its IntraVisualizer software converts relevant data, such as ovality, diameter and reject rates, into helpful diagrams.

What's new? Numerous upgrades, including a patented dust-suppression feature and sink mark neck support ring (NSR) inspection. With the dust-suppression system, the camera can now distinguish between contamination and dust particles, which have caused false rejects in the past. The NSR inspection system captures the NSR 60 times per rotation to determine whether its cross-section shape of the NSR is within specifications.

Benefits More sophisticated inspection capabilities for even more precise measurements. By quickly identifying problems, or even predicting when they will occur, users can save material, money and time.
