C-Labs' SDK software provides options for more connectivity

C-Labs' new software can be used to create plug-ins for the company's Factory-Relay, a software product that provides live access to industrial equipment for feedback and control through smartphones, tablets or any PC.

Factory-Relay Internet of Things Software Development Kit (SDK) C-Labs' new software can be used to create plug-ins for the company's Factory-Relay, a software product that provides live access to industrial equipment for feedback and control through smartphones, tablets or any PC. A version of the Factory-Relay software is also available from C-Labs pre-installed on a rugged industrial PC. With SDK, developers can create software plug-ins to communicate with specific industrial equipment or industrial communication protocols.

What's new? The software package, which was released in mid-February.

Benefits Greater connectivity and flexibility. The SDK allows companies to securely connect equipment regardless of age or protocol, and easily develop new applications using tools and technology already familiar to enterprise application developers. With the kit, developers can focus on specific equipment or issues such as diagnostics and predictive maintenance. For example, one European C-Labs customer is using SDK to develop an interface for older robotic equipment that does not use modern protocols. C-Labs' SDK simplifies the connection of different types of machinery, devices and sensors and streamlines the development of new applications to collect, store, analyze and act upon machine data.  Factory-Relay handles some of the other aspects of creating an Internet-of-Things application, such as connection security, encryption, user authentication and integration.
