SSC Reduction Engineering Scheer's new Stainless Steel Conveyor cools very hygroscopic materials during strand pelletizing. It can be used with bio-based plastics and certain water-soluble engineered polymers used in the medical industry.

What's new? The conveyor. Instead of the perforated plastic belt often used on conveyors, it has a thin continuous sheet of solid stainless steel. With this design, air and water can't pass through the belt. Instead, the material is cooled by water running underneath the conveyor, as well as by fans operating above it.

Benefits Flexibility in dealing with hard-to-cool materials. The conveyor's design allows it to cool high-temperature polymers that can't be conventionally water-cooled due to their tendency to absorb moisture.
