Better rotors double DRD system's capacity

The company's standard, single-stage DRD systems can be used to dry film waste that has been washed, as well as to clean contaminated dry waste. The two-stage DRD-DS systems are designed to clean and dry wet waste, according to the company, which is represented in North America by distributor eFACTOR3. 

What's new? The improved models, which feature larger centrifuge housings that enclose upgraded rotors. The DRD 21 (shown at right), which has a centrifugal diameter of 2,100mm, replaces the firm's DRD 18 model.  The DRD 26, with a centrifugal diameter of 2,600mm, replaces the DRD 24. Both new models are available in single- and two-stage versions.

Benefits Higher input capacities and lower energy consumption and operating costs. By doubling the number of rotor blades and increasing rotor speeds and drive power, input capacity has been doubled to about 2,645 pounds per hour and 3,300 pounds per hour for the DRD 21 and DRD 26, respectively. The water-free process eliminates all of the costs associated with water treatment and wastewater removal. The operating cost per ton is about 20 to 25 percent that of a conventional water-based cleaning process, according to MAS.
