KraussMaffei delivers 5,500-ton press to Weber

April 1, 2015

KraussMaffei, Munich, built its largest injection molding machine to date, a 5,500-ton unit that will be used to make large waste containers at Weber GmbH & Co. KG, Haan, Germany.

BIGGEST YET: KraussMaffei's 5,500-ton injection molding machine.

It also has made a 4,500-ton unit. Both machines are from KraussMaffei's MX Series.

"The manufacturing of large-volume containers for waste disposal requires the use of large molds," says Helmut Guntermann, managing director with Weber. "The high shot weights and long flow paths require high clamping forces."

The MX Series machines have the hydro-mechanical twin-clamping unit that was developed by KraussMaffei. Its locking unit is designed for short cycles with precise positioning.

In other news, KraussMaffei also has signed a partnership agreement with 3CON Anlagenbau GmbH, Ebbs, Austria, for reaction process machinery in interior trim for the automotive market.

KraussMaffei's reaction process machinery is for production systems for foamed or foam-backed parts for automobile manufacturing. These parts include instrument panels, door coverings, door panels and window trim. The partnership with 3CON will allow the company to offer technologies for laminating, edge folding and thermoforming.
