SIGMASOFT FOR PIM This virtual molding software from Sigma Engineering GmbH has programs to simulate the production of green parts using powder injection molding (PIM).
WHAT'S NEW? Now Sigmasoft can predict particle segregation in the virtual molding of PIM parts. Specific PIM models, integrated into the software, can reproduce the rheological and thermal behavior of PIM feedstocks and visualize possible particle segregation associated with high shear rates.
BENEFITS Sigmasoft's ability to reproduce conditions for powder injection molding of (pre-sintered) green parts with zero defects. Factors involved include mold complexity and gating positioning, with material feedstock and actual process variables. Results are efficient mold design, increased sintered PIM part quality and minimized scrap production during startup.
