Sesotec machine can reclaim metal-contaminated resin
Re-Sort Sesotec’s Re-Sort can help plastics processors, compounders and recyclers reclaim plastic pellets that have been contaminated with metal particles. A hopper feeds the contaminated plastic onto a vibrating trough, which propels a thin layer of material to drop through a first separator that isolates magnetic particles. The material then drops past an instrument that detects non-magnetic metal, and good product falls into a collection drum. When non-magnetic metal is detected, a flap opens to block the passage and divert the flow into a second container for contaminated material. The flap then closes, and uncontaminated material continues to drop into the main collection drum. The recovered pellets can be returned directly into the production stream.
What’s new? Re-Sort, which debuted at Fakuma in October.
Benefits Less material waste. Re-Sort offers a recovery rate of up to 98 percent, avoiding waste, higher production costs and the potential environmental impact of disposing of large amounts of contaminated resin. This reliable method of removing metal contaminants also prevents damage to machinery. The entire unit is mounted on casters so it can be easily moved wherever it is needed in a facility.
