Cap inspection system employs dual lasers
2D-X2 This inspection system from Silgan Equipment checks for proper sealing of plastic caps on food and beverage products and can inspect up to 800 caps per minute. It detects caps that are too high, too low or missing, as well as if caps are tilted. If any sealing errors are detected, the 2D-X2 signals for the errant container to be rejected. The system’s software records a range of production statistics.
What’s new? Dual lasers. The 2D-X2, which was introduced in the fourth quarter of 2019, updates the company’s earlier 2D Dud Detector, which used a single laser sensor.
Benefits Cost savings. This economical alternative to vision systems has a color touchscreen and simple system for saving and recalling jobs that make setup and changeovers quick. The 2D-X2 also saves floor space because it is installed above the conveyor line.
