Wittmann upgrades controller for its presses

Feb. 1, 2020
Wittmann Battenfeld has integrated the controller for its injection molding machines with a choice of manufacturing execution systems (MES) and an optional module for performing the Imflux process.

Unilog B8 Wittmann Battenfeld’s control for its injection molding machines has a manual operating panel integrated into the machine’s central console, along with a pivotable monitor. Designed for user-friendliness, the control has a touch screen that accepts the same type of gesture commands as smartphones. The standard package monitors dosing, flow and the melt cushion, as well as the check valve, and allows for the system to ventilate the mold during injection, reducing cycle time. In addition, the control monitors part and process quality. Other special monitoring and control modules are available as options.

What’s new? Integration with a manufacturing execution system (MES). Wittmann offers a choice of MES solutions — the TemiOne for small and medium-sized companies, and the Temi+ for larger plants. Also, Wittmann is now offering an optional module that allows the low-pressure Imflux process developed by Imflux, Hamilton, Ohio, to take control over the machine.

Benefits Industry 4.0 capabilities. The Unilog B8 control system has an onboard help system and provides access to round-the-clock support via an Internet connection and webcam. The company’s MES solutions can work with both the injection molding machine, as well as the auxiliary equipment that services it, allowing for comprehensive data collection and evaluation.
