Top Notch Kennametal’s line of metalworking tools includes carbide tool holders, boring bars, heads, cartridges and inserts. It features grooving inserts suited for a variety of steel, cast iron, alloys and non-ferrous metals applications. Kennametal’s shallow grooving inserts come in durable grades of metal to enable higher cutting speeds and longer tool life. They are ideal for machining steels, stainless steels, cast iron, non-ferrous materials and super alloys.
What’s new? Kennametal’s KCU10B and KCU25B carbide grades for turning, grooving and threading applications. KCU refers to the following words: Kennametal, coated carbide insert and universal application. The numbers of the carbides represent their toughness. KCU10B is a hard, wear-resistant grade, appropriate for smooth, uninterrupted cuts, such as for finishing. KCU25B is an even-tougher grade that can withstand more impact, allowing it to handle interrupted cuts, such as for medium- and light-roughing applications.
Benefits Greater tool life performance. The new grades offer greater toughness. Also, Kennametal uses a gold color for its coatings. Compared with older coatings, which tend to be darker in color, gold-color inserts and tools show wear more readily.
