High-torque chucks Mapal has expanded its portfolio of additively manufactured hydraulic chucks. The hybrid design uses a conventionally manufactured tool body, with the tip created via additive manufacturing. The chucks can be used in machining centers that make molds and tooling.

What’s new? Additional sizes. The chucks have a variety of tapers and range from micro to large sizes for heavy-duty machining. Mapal has improved its manufacturing methods, decreasing the portion of the chuck that is additively manufactured to speed output and cut production costs.

Benefits Customizability. The chucks can be tailored to meet customer requirements. For instance, they can be made in nonstandard micro sizes, or designed to produce a specified finish or machine in areas that are difficult to reach. Mapal can produce chucks with both internal and external clamping. And, because the company has been able to lower its production costs, Mapal has reduced the products’ prices.
