EFC-02 This all-electric, active compliance device from Suhner uses high-frequency measurements to monitor force and acceleration of end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) throughout material removal applications — including the grinding, polishing, deburring and sanding applications performed by mold makers and mold-room technicians. An advanced control algorithm then dynamically adjusts force and automates grinding processes based on pre-programmed parameters. The EFC-02 can connect a grinding machine, such as an angle grinder, orbital sander, angle polisher or straight grinder, to the robot. Designed to ensure the EOAT maintains a consistent pressure with the surface of the workpiece, it’s compatible with EOAT from a variety of OEMs.
What’s new? The electric compliance system, which Suhner planned to show at Automate in Detroit.
Benefits Consistent, high-quality surface results. The EFC-02 ensures maintenance of perfect surface contact, so the robot performing the material removal stays on a steady path, regardless of the surface type, shape, size or orientation of the workpiece. The EFC-02 is compact.
