Laserax acquires majority stake in SLCR Lasertechnik

The partnership will extend Canada-based Laserax's reach in Europe.

Laserax, a manufacturer of industrial laser solutions, has made a majority investment in SLCR Lasertechnik GmbH, a German-based manufacturer of specialized laser systems for laser surface treatment.

The strategic partnership expands Laserax's portfolio of technologies and products, and provides Laserax with European manufacturing capabilities and a local team to serve its customer base there.

“Bringing together the expertise of Laserax and SLCR increases our capacity for innovation and gives our customers access to an even broader range of technologies, applications and know-how. This is exactly the kind of partnership where one plus one equals three: each side brings complementary strengths that let us create more value for our customers around the world,” said Xavier Godmaire, president and CEO of Laserax.

Founded in 1997 and based in Langerwehe, Germany, SLCR Lasertechnik designs turnkey laser systems for industrial surface treatment. SLCR will retain its identity, operations and management team in Germany while gaining access to Laserax’s international commercial network.

Laserax, headquartered in Québec City, designs and manufactures laser systems for markets including automotive, battery, aerospace and defense. Its products for the plastics industry include marking and micromachining technologies.
