NXTamid In the midst of a company expansion, Nylon Corp. of America (NYCOA) is bringing out new lines of long-chain nylons, including two material offerings in this series — the NXTamid L and NXTamid T. The NXTamid L grades can be used as alternatives to nylons 11 and 12, according to the company. Meanwhile, the company says its NXTamid T grades of nylons are comparable — or better in some applications — than short-chain materials like nylon 6 and 66, and they are suitable for a wide range of processes, including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding and rotomolding.
What’s new? NXTamid L, along with NXTamid T, grades 6.10 and 6.12.
Benefits Favorable performance characteristics. According to NYCOA, NXTamid L offers a broad range of customization options, and can have a biobased composition of between 25 percent and 60 percent. The company says NXTamid T materials have high impact strength, excellent wear resistance, good electrical insulation properties and strong chemical resistance. They also exhibit lower moisture absorption and retain more of their intrinsic impact resistance and toughness at colder temperatures than some polyamides.
