Danish end-of-arm tooling manufacturer OnRobot has introduced its first palletizer system with a versatile gripper system that's designed for fast deployment and easy programming.
“The big value in this product is OnRobot’s software,” said Kristian Hulgard, GM of the OnRobot Americas division, during an interview at Automate 2022. “It takes less than one hour to program, not the typical one to two weeks with traditional palletizers. No specialized training is required.”
The OnRobot modular palletizer system consists of four components — software, electric grippers with 44-pound payload, pallet station and a seventh-axis lift component. It is compatible with Universal Robots, Doosan, Techman, Fanuc and Omron robot arms.
Hulgard said the new palletizer works with many different types of boxes, packages, patterns, pallets and stacking heights. It also handles open boxes.
The versatile 2FGP20 electric gripper does not require an external air supply. The vacuum gripper can handle slip sheets without requiring a different tool. The new two-finger gripper component has a wide stroke and customizable arms to handle products that traditional vacuum grippers cannot handle.
Total stroke of the 2FGP20 gripper is 10.24 inches. The grip width range is 6.7 inches to 16.9 inches. Dimensions are 15.8 inches by 4.8 inches by 7.4 inches. Total weight is 8.2 pounds without fingers or cups.
Hulgard said the palletizer system is low-cost and especially suited for small and mid-sized companies. “It is a unique solution,” he said. Components can be used as a complete system or individually as needed.
OnRobot’s Lift100 is an elevator base that provides a seventh axis for lightweight industrial robot arms, giving them higher reach than they would have from a fixed base. It has a total payload of 220 pounds.
The OnRobot Pallet Station component is a floor-mounted pallet fixture with built-in sensors to ensure consistent positioning.
The OnRobot palletizing software integrates all parts of the system. The gripper is automatically detected and gripper settings are set throughout the palletizing flow. Lift100 settings are automatically calculated.
