ABB adds eight large robots to IRB line

April 18, 2022
The IRB 5710 and IRB 5720 robot families have payload capacities ranging from 154 pounds to 397 pounds and reaches that range from 7.5 feet to 9.8 feet.

IRB ABB has expanded its extensive portfolio of IRB large industrial robots for complex manufacturing tasks with the IRB 5710 and IRB 5720 robot families. Encompassing a total of eight models, the two new lines have payload capacities ranging from 154 pounds to 397 pounds and reaches that range from 7.5 feet to 9.8 feet. Appropriate for use in plastic molding facilities, the robots are suitable for a wide range of production tasks, such as machine tending, pick-and-place, precision assembly and parts handling. Multiple mounting options are possible, including on the floor, angled and inverted.

What’s new? The IRB 5710 and IRB 5720 robot families, which are powered by ABB’s latest OmniCore controller, the V250XT. The new controller enables the robots to achieve position repeatability of 0.04mm to 0.05mm and path accuracy of 1mm to 1.2mm.

Benefits Improved accuracy and speeds as much as 25 percent faster than comparable robots. Additionally, all cables are routed inside the robot’s upper arm and along the wrist, protecting them from heat and collisions; this potentially reduces downtime and maintenance and can extend service life.
