Rapid Robotics announced it has received $12 million in Series A funding led by NEA, with participation from existing investors Greycroft, Bee Partners and 468 Capital, which brings its total funding to $17.5 million.
San Francisco-based Rapid Robotics said it saw strong demand in 2020 for its affordable cobots, called Rapid Machine Operators (RMOs). The pretrained cobots arrive with integrated machine vision and AI, and can take on a range of simple machine tasks, including pick-and-place, pad printing and heat stamping. Available by subscription, the RMOs share capabilities and newly acquired skills via the cloud.
