Engel upgrades E-motion injection molding machine
E-motion Engel's all-electric series of injection molding machines (IMMs) is designed for high performance and energy efficiency. They are available with clamping forces of 120 tons to 720 tons, and can be tailored for medical, packaging or multi-component molding. Engel's iQ Motion Control digital assistant analyzes parameters and calculates the optimal acceleration of the moving platen.
What's new? A series of enhancements that enable the machines to be used for thin-wall PP applications, which debuted on an E-motion 380 at Fakuma 2026, producing yogurt cups with a wall thickness of 0.28mm and a flow-length-to-wall-thickness ratio of 370. The new injection unit achieves injection speeds of up to 500mm per second, comparable to hybrid or hydraulic machines traditionally used for this type of packaging. A new clamping unit makes the E-motion the most powerful all-electric machine in Engel's portfolio, and all future models in the line will be equipped with this unit. Shorter dry cycle times enable higher output.
Benefits High-speed, stable production of thin-wall packaging, using around 30 percent less energy than comparable hybrid or hydraulic IMMs.
