Arburg vertical injection molding machine tailored for overmolding
Allrounder These Arburg injection molding machines (IMMs) come in electric, hybrid and hydraulic versions, as well as vertical and horizontal setups.
What’s new? The vertical 112-ton, servo-hydraulic Allrounder 475 V, which Arburg planned to debut at the K show paired with a new version of its controls it characterized as Gestica lite. According to Arburg, the new IMM is especially appropriate for both manual and automated overmolding of inserts, such as the overmolding of cables, contacts and infusion accessories for the e-mobility, electronics and medical technology sectors. At the K show, the company planned to show the Allrounder 475 V, along with a six-axis robot from Kuka AG, Augsburg, Germany, as part of a turnkey system for producing, marking and post-processing covers for car keys from PC and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) recyclate in combination with in-mold decoration. A new technology, called Protective Layer Finish (PLF), was planned to create high-quality surfaces for the parts.
Benefits Space savings, energy efficiency, flexibility and ease of use. Arburg says the Allrounder 475 V has a small footprint, and can be used for either manual or automated overmolding of inserts. Its servo-hydraulic system can reduce energy consumption by up to 60 percent, and the new Gestica lite control variant is easy to use.
