New Koch-Technik resin dryer is energy-efficient

Dec. 1, 2019
Koch-Technik’s new Ekon dry-air resin dryer comes in eight sizes and combines elements of the company’s CKT and EKO dryers.
Ekon This new dry-air resin dryer from Werner Koch comes in eight sizes, with airflow volumes ranging from 3,885 cubic feet per hour to 70,630 cubic feet per hour. It produces dry air with a dew point of minus 67 degrees Fahrenheit. The modular dryer is compatible with several drying hoppers, with capacities ranging from 0.7 cubic foot to 21.2 cubic feet. It features micro filters, overload protection and a temperature limiter. It can be connected to a corporate network via an Ethernet connection. Werner Koch is commonly known as Koch-Technik.

What’s new? A mashup of two technologies. Ekon combines elements of the company’s CKT and EKO dryers, improving upon the heat exchanger used in the EKO line. Introduced at K 2019, Ekon dryers eventually will replace both the CKT and EKO lines.

Benefits Energy efficiency. By combining heat-exchanger improvements, dew-point control and blowers with frequency regulation, the dryer can use half as much energy as previous Koch-Technik dryers and competitors’ products. The dryer’s sensors constantly monitor and adapt the drying process to protect the resin, guaranteeing that hygroscopic resins such as polyamide and PC are not overdried.
