KraussMaffei upgrades control panel

Dec. 1, 2019
A glass multitouch display will be standard on CX, GX, MX and PX machines. It features a split screen and smartphone-style interaction.
Injection molding machines KraussMaffei’s CX, GX, MX and PX series of injection molding machines meet a wide variety of molding needs. Machines in the CX series feature a hydraulic clamping unit and provide clamping forces from 40 tons to 470 tons. The GX series offers hydromechanical two-platen clamping technology and clamping forces ranging from 450 tons to 1,000 tons. MX series machines also have hydromechanical two-platen clamping technology and clamping forces of 1,125 tons to 6,180 tons. With clamping forces of 28 tons to 360 tons, the PX series can be tailored to individual needs by combining different all-electric clamping and injection units.

What’s new? A technologically advanced 21.5-inch control screen that debuted at K 2019 and that replaces the 19-inch control panel that has been standard on CX, GX, MX and PX presses. The glass screen has additional standard features that previously had been available only on an optional 24-inch screen. These include a split screen and a capacitive multitouch display that allows operators to use motions familiar from smartphones, such as zooming using two fingers. The screen also has the company’s SlideX guideway ground into the glass, which allows users to control all machine axes without looking at the screen. The guideway keeps the user’s finger on the right path; the further the operator moves the finger to the left or right, the faster the machine movement. The screen is compatible with radio-frequency identification technology. Global delivery of machines with the screen begins in the first quarter of 2020; most older machines also can be retrofitted with the new technology.

Benefits Simpler, more intuitive machine operation.
