What’s new? Two specialized plasticizing screws featured at K 2019 and now available worldwide. Engel designed the physical foaming screw (PFS) for structural foam molding with a geometry that provides better homogenization of a gas-loaded melt. The long glass fiber screw (LFS), shown, gently processes PP and polyamide reinforced with long glass fibers. The LFS screw and mixing head are made from a single piece of metal. The screw’s geometry has been optimized for fiber distribution.

Benefits Better processing. The PFS improves melt homogeneity, boosts productivity and offers longer screw life. The LFS maximizes plasticizing consistency and reduces fiber breakage; it also is wear- and corrosion-resistant.
