Sprint hot-runner systems add MasterShield technology

Dec. 1, 2019
Mold-Masters' newest hot-runner systems are designed so that the nozzle is sealed against the manifold, protecting against leaks and providing the flexibility of a wider processing window.
Sprint Designed for making lightweight caps and closures, these Mold-Masters hot-runner systems are built for energy efficiency and capable of cycle times ranging from 2 seconds to 6 seconds. A 96-cavity mold with the technology, shown, can produce 26mm caps at sub-2-second cycle times, churning out more than 1 billion parts a year; molds with the hot-runner systems can also be designed to produce 38mm or 48mm caps. The hot-runner systems can handle HDPE, LDPE and PP.

What’s new? The addition of patented MasterShield technology — Milacron’s name for a pre-loaded nozzle spring that seals the nozzle against the manifold. The innovation is now offered as standard.

Benefits Protection against leaks and a wider processing window. In case of overheating, the system applies a sealing force that protects the steel, and the spring absorbs excess loads. This prevents costly damage to the mold.
