Engel ends financial year with 10 percent revenue drop

May 7, 2025
Despite economic headwinds, the company reported it had increased market share in multiple sectors and regions.

Engel Group, Schwertberg, Austria, announced it had closed the 2024-2025 financial year with a turnover of approximately 1.5 billion euros, or about $1.7 billion, a decrease of nearly 10 percent compared to the previous year.

The maker of injection molding and automation technologies said in a press release that despite the decline in market conditions, “the past financial year was marked by reduced investment activity and a significant drop in incoming orders across all areas of industry. Engel not only remained stable in this environment, but also systematically increased its market share in multiple sectors and regions.”

“We have learned to remain capable of action during crises — and once again proven that Engel can act reliably and with foresight even under difficult conditions,” Stefan Engleder,  Engel Group CEO Stefan Engleder said.

The company is focusing its strategy on Europe, the Americas and Asia, each supported by independent hubs with sales, support, production and after-sales functions.

Engel Americas is based in York, Pa. During a visit by Plastics Machinery & Manufacturing in December, executives discussed the company’s strategies for difficult economic times.

The company has launched initiatives in automation and service.

"Especially in economically challenging times, the importance of a reliable service partner becomes clear. Our goal remains to ensure maximum system availability throughout the entire lifecycle,” Engleder said.

While the automotive sector remains uncertain, the company noted interest in solutions for lightweight construction and alternative materials, and said it had strengthened its market position in technical injection molding. The packaging division benefited from an increase in demand, and the medical division remained stable.

Training of young talent remains a focus, as a total of 397 apprentices worldwide are currently completing their training at Engel.

“We are making targeted investments in the next generation of skilled professionals — offering hands-on training and international development opportunities. This enables us to maintain our ability to innovate well into the future,” Engleder said.
