Burger & Brown Engineering’s Mark Brown retires, succeeded by son Corey
Burger & Brown Engineering Inc. announced that Mark Brown has officially retired from the company. This was the final step in a nine-year leadership and ownership transition.
Brown’s son, Corey Brown, has taken the reins as president and CEO.
Founded in 1978 by Phil Burger, the Grandview, Mo.-based company offers precision machining, engineering design and custom injection molding, as well as auxiliary products for injection molding and blow molding in its Smartflow line.
Mark Brown started with the company in 1994, holding positions ranging from vice president to owner and CEO. Under his leadership, the company expanded in the areas of CNC machining, manual machining, automation and engineering. He faced challenges over the years, among them navigating through the economic downturn of 2008 and 2009, and nurturing a global product distribution network for Smartflow products.
As he takes the company forward, Corey Brown will focus on investment in new technologies, team development and defining corporate culture.
Mark Brown’s plans for post-retirement don’t include slowing down, the company said in a press release. He will work to expand the family’s farm-to-table restaurant and microbrewery as he continues to pursue his passions of hands-on building and business growth.
