Engel opens expanded U.S. robot center

The company can now handle 13 automation projects at a time.

Engel North America has announced the opening of an expanded automation center at its headquarters in York, Pa. The injection molding machine maker says the facility’s opening will allow it to reduce order-delivery times as it seeks to help customers continue to deal with workforce challenges.

With 15,000 square feet of space for production, office and logistics, the center — one of four Engel operates worldwide — now offers twice as much room as it did pre-renovation. In it, Engel can run 13 projects at once, with the overall capacity to realize 50 to 70 projects per year, catering specifically to the U.S. About 35 people work in the center.

"With a focus on automotive, technical molding and medical industries, Engel delivers complete UL-certified production cells that cover every aspect from conception, design and manufacturing to start-up, validation and after-sales service," said Vanessa Malena, president of Engel North America.

Every year, Engel delivers 350 to 400 robots and automation products in the U.S., totaling more than $35 million in robot sales.
